The Samaria Gorge is a stunning natural attraction located in the White Mountains of Crete. The gorge is 16 km long and is one of the longest gorges in Europe. Visitors can hike through the gorge, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and cliffs. The gorge is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including the rare Cretan wild goat, the kri-kri.
The hike through the gorge takes around 6-7 hours and can be challenging, especially in the summer months when temperatures can reach over 40°C. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. The hike ends at the small village of Agia Roumeli, where visitors can relax on the beach or take a boat back to Chania.
